Who taught you the invisible map,
to read the stars, to be invincible?
Your fragile body defies the wind,
and each wing carries a firmament.
In every flower you drink life and color,
you keep within you the soul of the sun.
Your dance tells ancient stories
of long flights and solitary lands.
You are a symbol of struggle and perseverance,
of faithful return, of hope.
Your wings speak, in their vibration,
of life itself, of its redemption.
Oh, *Danaus plexippus*, faithful messenger,
in you we see a mystery both cruel and sweet:
life that flows, that is born and departs,
but always returns, as you do, without end.
